United flight school requirements

United Airlines operates its own flight training program through the United Aviate Academy, which is designed to train and prepare future pilots for a career with United Airlines. Here are the key requirements to join the United Aviate Academy and eventually become a United Airlines pilot:

United Aviate Academy Requirements

  1. Age

    • At least 18 years old to enroll.

    • Must be at least 21 years old to fly for a United Express regional airline.

  2. Education

    • College degree is not mandatory but can be beneficial.

  3. Medical Certificate

    • Must obtain an FAA First-Class Medical Certificate (pass the medical exam).

    • No significant health issues that would disqualify you from flying.

  4. Flight Experience

    • No prior flight experience required (the academy is for beginners).

    • If you already have flight hours, you may qualify for other Aviate pathways.

  5. Legal Requirements

    • Ability to work in the U.S. (citizenship or legal work authorization).

    • Pass a TSA background check and drug screening.

  7. Financial Considerations

After Graduating from Aviate Academy
