- Duration: Typically aligns with academic semesters (e.g., Fall, Spring, Summer).
- Locations: Internships are offered in various cities, including Newark, NJ; Washington, DC; Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; San Francisco, CA; and Los Angeles, CA.
- Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support Flight Operations business processes in Chief Pilot Offices, at the Flight Training Center, and/or at the Corporate Support Center.
- Work closely with a mentor who will assign tasks, special projects, and provide daily direction.
- Potential opportunities to travel to other cities within the United Airlines network for business trips and off-site visits.
✅ Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the FOIP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science or a related field.
- Academic Standing: At least a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student within one year of graduation at the start of the internship.
- Certifications:
- FAA Instrument rating required.
- FAA Commercial Certificate highly preferred.
- FAA Multi-Engine Rating preferred.
- FAA Medical Certificate (First, Second, or Third class) required.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid passport required for international travel experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.
- Must pass a U.S. driver’s/criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must be willing to find and pay for housing in the respective city.
